First Day Disaster?

Fashion suicide?

Am I a good mom or bad mom is the question.  Both my beasts are transitioning to new schools today – one to high school and the other to middle.  The younger came out of his room with the usual soccer jersey and shorts, but they were sorely mismatched in color. I didn’t really care when he was in elementary school because most kids didn’t care either.  But this is middle school – and fashion suicide in middle school is the very thing that makes up books and movies like Diary of a Wimpy Kid or classic TV shows like The Wonder Years.  So the question is, am I a bad mom for letting him go to middle school with what appeared to be fashion suicide in progress?

At least his hair was perfectly coiffed into his usual faux hawk. So he’s got that going for him.

Had the “matching” talk with my 6th grader last night. It’s not uncommon for him to wear green shorts and a red shirt. I asked him if he wanted to wear something nice today. He said, “No, I’ve got to make a good impression.”–so he wore the soccer jersey and athletic shorts combo.
